The Poultry Pavilion will be full of hundreds of chickens, ducks and geese in all sizes, shapes and colours. The list of breeds on exhibition starts from Anconas and goes all the way down to Wyandottes.
The best of these pure breeds will be on show and many of them are classified as ‘rare breeds’ that owe their existence to continued breeding by poultry enthusiasts.
As well as chickens, in both bantam and large sizes, there will be geese and ducks; such as Campbells, Muscovies and Runners.
Junior exhibitors (under 14 years old) have their own part of the show and exhibit various pure breeds. There are also classes for well-cared-for backyard birds.
Stewards for the Poultry Show are members of the Nowra Poultry Club, which meets at the Poultry Pavilion at Nowra Showground. The Club is for all poultry enthusiasts to further their knowledge of breeding and showing poultry, and to enjoy meeting and networking with other like-minded poultry enthusiasts. Meetings are on 4th Wednesdays monthly, 7pm at the Nowra Showground Poultry Pavilion.
